What are your rates?

Pricing can be found under each therapist’s bio.

Session payments are accepted by credit card and Interac e-Transfer. Please contact us to set up payment if you plan to use third-party/program funding.

What if cost is a barrier for me?

If cost is a barrier, please reach out to us. We offer sliding scale rates for clients in need in an effort to make our services more accessible. Rate and availability vary based on the clinician.

We also offer lower-cost counselling sessions with supervised Intern Counsellors who are completing their Masters degree in either Clinical Counselling or Clinical Social Work.

Do you accept extended health benefits/health insurance?

Many health insurance providers (e.g., Blue Cross, Manulife) reimburse services provided by a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), or Registered Social Worker (RSW). Please review your benefits plan for details on your coverage.

Insurance Coverage Exclusions:

  • Sessions with Intern Counsellors are not covered by insurance.

  • Sessions with clinicians awaiting registration (e.g., RCC-pending) may not be eligible for reimbursement under most insurance plans.

Please note that we do not offer direct billing at this time. If your insurance plan covers counselling services, please pay your counsellor directly and submit your receipts to your insurance provider for reimbursement

Do you offer diagnostic services?

We are not able to offer official diagnoses, however, we do offer unofficial screenings and can also provide recommendations for registered psychologists in the community for formal assessments.

Meeting sensory needs in session

We make every effort to make you feel comfortable in counselling. If you need any sensory adjustments, such as dimmer lighting, white noise, or other accommodations, just let us know. You’re welcome to move around, stim, sit, stand, lie down, or make any adjustments to your position as needed during sessions—there's no expectation to remain seated or maintain eye contact during the appointment.

Do you have any tips for someone who’s new to or uncertain about counselling?

Feelings of discomfort and/or uncertainty around counselling are very common. It can take some time to get used to counselling conversations and build a trusting relationship with your counsellor.

Below are some tips that our clients have found to be helpful before booking their first session and during the initial stages of counselling:

  • Book a free consultation to meet your counsellor and see if their approach feels right for you.

  • Take some time to reflect on why you’re considering counselling. Jotting down your thoughts or discussing it with someone can help you clarify what you’d like to work on.

  • Try a session or two—sometimes experiencing counselling firsthand can help you decide if it’s the right fit.

  • Know that it’s okay if the counsellor isn’t right for you. Therapy is a personal process, and it may take time to find the right match.

  • If counselling hasn’t worked for you in the past, bring up your concerns during the consultation. A new therapist or different approach might be more suitable.

  • Bring someone you trust to your appointments if it helps you feel more comfortable. You’re welcome to attend with a parent, friend, sibling, partner, or support worker.

  • Allow yourself some time before and after sessions to reflect and process your experience.

  • You get to set the pace. If there are topics you don’t feel ready to discuss, that’s okay—let your counsellor know, and they’ll work with you at a pace that feels accessible. You can also explore different session lengths and frequency.

How long is a counselling session?

A standard counselling session is 50 minutes. We also offer other session options depending on the type of session and the client’s needs (e.g. 25-min and 80-min sessions).

How should I determine the frequency and length of my appointments?

Counselling therapy can be short-term, long-term or anywhere in between. The frequency and duration of counselling is influenced by a number of factors, including the reason for seeking counselling, your availability, your health, and your financial considerations. Together with your counsellor, you will assess your progress and collaboratively determine the frequency and duration of sessions and create a therapy plan that aligns with your needs.

What is your cancellation policy?

We appreciate as much notice as possible should you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment. This will allow other clients who need to see us to book in.

A minimum of 24 hours notice is required if you wish to make changes to your appointment. If you miss an appointment, reschedule or cancel within 24 hours of the appointment, you will be charged the full cost of the scheduled session. This payment must be paid in full before you can schedule another appointment.
